Audrey and Luther are two 3 year old great danes we met at the shelter. A local rescue pulled them out after we agreed to temporarily foster them, but soon we learned of their many health problems. Audrey required exploratory surgery, as she had a large mass in her stomach and could not keep down food or water, and Luther appeared to be lame and had a heart condition. Because of this, the rescue felt they should be euthanized, as they felt the pair were not adoptable.
We stepped in after taking the pair to our own vet for an evaluation. The prognosis for a long healthy life for both was good so we opted to take these dogs under our wing and get them the medical attention they so desperately needed. Audrey had her surgery and the mass was nothing of concern. When she returned home, there were complications, so in for a second surgery she went. She is now home, after an entire week in the hospital, and on the road to recovery - but not after running up over $1000 in vet bills.

Luther is recovering well. It is believed his supposed lameness was due to his previous living conditions where we believe he was kept in a crate with little exercise, therefore causing him to be very weak with little muscle tone. This coupled with Tick Fever caused him quite a bit of pain in his joints. We have already spent over $300 on this sweet boy, who still requires a neuter which will cost us well over $300 considering the precautions we must take because of his heart.

We are reaching out to you for help with these two gentle giants. We set to work, hand making doggy fleece blankets to sell in order to raise funds for these two rescues. Our doggy fleeces are extra durable and machine washable and feature such designs as “Sleepytime Puppy”, “Pink Leopard”, and “Winter Forest”. We are asking a minimum donation of $15 (plus shipping if applicable) for these cozy fleeces, of which 100% of the proceeds will go to save Audrey and Luther.
You can see the patterns available and place orders at http://www.fur-crazy.com/adoptblankets.htm
Thank you so much for any help you can give to this wonderful pair of dogs!!
